Afterschool Academy

What makes BEQCC Afterschool Academy better than other programs you may ask? We are not a baby-sitting service but an academic enhanced program.
Every school has a “School Improvement Plan” which is mandated by the State of Florida. BEQCC site Directors look at their school site to see how we can enhance learning with our afterschool program. They meet with the principal and your child’s teacher. We ask, “What is the school struggling with: Math, Science, Language Arts, Writing, or Social Studies.” Grade levels are unique, and each might be different.
BEQCC then puts together the extended learning needed for the school. We may purchase a software gaming program that students use for math called Dimension U. The students can play it while in the program or even at home. They do not realize that they are reading and completing math computations while they are learning. Statistics have shown grade level improvement while using the program.
We might purchase WriteBrain material where groups of children create their own published book. They are using illustrations and their own words for their stories. After 12 weeks, they will have a night where they can read and share the books, they are published authors.
Our students are struggling with being able to socialize and have a good relationship with others. We have purchased games that require students to work together and collaborate. Playing together makes perfect sense.
